This page outlines on how to cite and add references to articles, like this.[1]
References are very important for providing support, clarification and verification to pages.
When and why to cite[]
References should be included in an article when support or clarification is needed on a subject matter; such as history and chart positions. This is to provide proof that it is right and can be verified.
Where to cite[]
References must be added in the artist's history, career, trivia sections or where ever information needs support. They do not, however, have to be added for common knowledge information (eg. The sky is blue, Folksong is a member of 4MIX) and content like image/video teasers, album information & release dates (which can be easy to find & readily available from artist's SNS and music platforms such as Spotify).
Where to get information from[]
Appropriate:
- Official websites
- Official artist/entertainment accounts (eg. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
- News & media outlets (eg. Sanook Music, T-POP Update, T-POP Entertainment)
- Online music charts/stores (eg. JOOX)
Discretionary (if properly linked):
- Translation SNS accounts
- Translation YouTube accounts and videos
Not appropriate:
- Fan accounts (eg. personal/non-artist Twitter)
- Fan sites & blogs (eg. Tumblr, Amino)
- Public forums (eg. OneHallyu, Allkpop Forum. However, you can use them to find other references)
- Other wikis or resource sites (eg. Kprofiles, Wikipedia. However, you can use them to find other references)
How to cite[]
To create a reference, simply switch to source mode while editing and then place your text inside <ref>[Link followed by title]</ref> tags. In source mode, the first sentence on this page would look like this:
To create a reference, simply switch to source mode while editing and then place your text inside <ref>[Link followed by title]</ref> tags. In source mode, the first sentence on this page would look like this:
- On March 12, 2021, Bambie left AKIRA-KURO due to poor health and personal issues.<ref>[https://twitter.com/akirakuroidol/status/1370211136470085632 Twitter: AKIRA-KURØ announces departure of BAMBiE]</ref>
For print media without an online url, use as shown:
<ref>Title Name, Author, Page Number, Magazine name, Date</ref>
Repeated use[]
If you want to use the same reference again in an article, first replace <ref> with <ref name=" "> at the beginning of the reference in question, then place the second, third etc. usage as <ref name=" "/> (with the end slash!). Please use an appropriate name in between the quotations.
<ref name="">[Link then title]</ref> <ref name=""/>
<ref name="departure">[https://twitter.com/akirakuroidol/status/1370211136470085632 Twitter: AKIRA-KURØ announces departure of BAMBiE]</ref> <ref name="departure"/>
Listing[]
At the end of the page, create a section and include the code {{Reflist}}. This will create a numbered listing of your citations[2].
==References== {{Reflist}}
When there are none[]
If there is no citation on a sentence or paragraph you believe needs clarification, you can add the template {{Cite}} at the end. This can be removed once a reference is added.
If the section lacks references, you can add the template {{Citations needed}} at the beginning of the section.
Help[]
If you aren't too sure of the source of a reference you want to make, you can send a message to bureaucrat Xiulaces, who will try and help you with the credibility of your source.
