CMJ is a Thai record label and management agency, originally housed under Cm Cafe Entertainment.

The label was originally a collaboration between Cm Cafe and Japanese producers, who worked together to create new works, with one of those producers being Aoi Furuya, who also produced music for the Japanese girl group Masshiro na Canvas.[1][2]

History[]

2020-2022[]

The label officially opened their social media accounts on December 24, 2020.[3] Starting from December 25 until January 1, 2021, the company started introducing their trainees, consisting of 18 girls.

On December 27, 2020, CMJ fully introduced itself and its concept. The company is a collaboration between CM Cafe and Japanese producers, who will work together to create new works. Compared to CM Cafe, the company will be more strict in discipline and communications with fans. The music, outfits and images will also be heavily inspired by idols from Japan.[1]

On June 9, 2021, the company opened the social media pages of their first group, Castella.[4] However, fans were quick to judge the logo, saying it was plagiarism of the logo of disbanded group MagicalSTAR. On June 10, the creative process behind the logo was shown, but they mentioned it would be changed.[5] On June 17, the group's new logo was uploaded.[6] The group debuted on June 18, with the audio release of their debut digital single "Yume wo Miyou".[7]

On December 28 and December 30, 2021, the label introduced their 2nd generation of trainees, consisting of 13 girls.[8][9] On December 30, it was also announced that trainee Mimi would be moved to Cm Cafe, and Kumpuy would join CMJ.[10]

On August 21, 2022, CMJ announced two new groups, Miruku and Umeshu, during their live stage at Samyan Mitrtown.[11]

2023: Departure from Cm Cafe Entertainment[]

On November 22, CMJ released a statement announcing that they would be leaving Cm Cafe Entertainment as a subsidiary and would continue as an independent label.[12]
