BNK48 (Thai: บีเอ็นเค 48; Japanese: ビーエヌケー フォーティエイト; Korean: 비엔케이포티에이트; short for Bangkok48) is a girl group under iAM. They debuted on August 8, 2017 with the single album "Aitakatta".

They are the second international sister group of Japanese girl group AKB48. The group used to have their own theater in The Mall Bangkapi, in Bangkok, Thailand until January 2023 when it closed.

History[]

2016: Group formation[]

On March 26, the planned project for the formation of BNK48, MNL48, and TPE48 was announced at Takahashi Minami's graduation concert in Yokohama Stadium.

On September 23, the selection result was announced. 80 selected applicants were luckily proceed to the final round.

On October 13, due to the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the final selection for the 1st Generation members were postponed until December 18.

2022: Special single and 4th generation[]

During the WE TALK TO YOU 2022 - 2023 press conference, a music timeline for both BNK48 and CGM48 was revealed. It was shown that BNK48's 12th single would be released in August, and a special 1st generation single would be released in November. Later in the livestream, the new promotions for Team BIII and Team NV were revealed, as well as that the group would hold auditions for a 4th generation; The auditions would run from June 3 to June 26.[1]

On October 30, BNK48 introduced their eleven 4th generation trainee members during their Request Hour 2022.[2]

2023: Auditions for 5th generation[]

On October 29, BNK48 released an announcement that they would be opening their auditions to find their 5th generation members; The auditions were open from October 30 until December 11.[3]
